.....

Thankyou... no. thats not repeated pictures, there IS 4 corner holes - one at each end of each cill, plus the arch.

The metal under the Arch rot is in Fine order as I peaked through the hole.

PS: This is NOT my own 1991 H reg car ...!

Not quite!

When I bought the car it had been sitting for several years.... unfortunately it wasn't sitting on hard standing. The left hand side of it was in a hedge (that's the worst side!) the drivers side of it had grass and weeds around the cills.

When I got it home it didn't look anywhere near as bad as it does, unfortunately it got a lot worse and eventually I took it off the road and left it sitting (on hard standing this time!) and in the end Paul said he fancied a shot at repairing it as it wasn't something I had time to do so it was loaded onto the trailer and towed from Glasgow to North Wales. It is however the outer cills only that have corroded, the inner cills are still solid.

It's a damn good car apart from the corrosion, the engine and gearbox are beautifully smooth and run like new.

I hope it's repairable as it'd be a great shame to see it go. I had a quote of £300 to have new cills welded into the car which I was going to do but I ended buying the green car instead. Cills are available from Citroen but they are also £300 each.

Will be following this with interest Paul.

Regards

David.

I hope you will be sending write ups to the Citroenian Paul!! :D :D ;)

Good luck with the project, nothing like a bit of welding to get stuck into.

That'll keep you busy Paul! :D

At least it'll be worth it in the end though considering what it is and the rarity of them. 8-)

Interesting stuff Paul!! If it is any consolation, my 'H' plate 24v cills had holes in at least two corners and the outer flange all along once side also needed to be rebuilt. I am sure it will be worth the trouble to repair, given the rarity, low mileage and good engine and g/b. We look forward to further postings. With regards, Matthew T.

Flipping heck. I think I could have sold you some repair panels off the mandarin one I scrapped to fix that. That rear arch is really bad.
