Glad to hear it all went well Jim.

I'm guilty of that too when I first got mine...

How could it take you so long to find the bonnet release, you even saw me release it...
I know
That was the stupid thing
I saw you but did not make a mental note...
It was only late this evening I found the owners handbook under the flap above the passenger footwell...
I'm soon to start a new thread on the restoration of this car... It's been an interesting evening so far...

A proper XM has the bonnet release just under the drivers left hand.

Guess you need a handy bonnet catch for one of those.
I would be forever looking in there for the missing horses.
Must be worse than a 2.5 in limp mode.

The seats are like the finest armchairs...
The whole car just exudes class. Even how the doors close with a soft thud and the nearly inaudible locking... Normally I'm not a fan of S2 cars but for this one I'm happy to make an exception...
The XM's seating is a thing to do a case study on... I have not seen this reaction on any other car: even the most I-don't-give-a-damn-about-cars passenger, commenting -usually within 10 mins of entering the car- "how good those seats are!!".
The front doors' thud has no doubt been studied to be so. One of the first things my friend -on successive 5-series- noticed...

Pleased to hear it all went well Jim. You will find you have more room under the bonnet if you fit a 2.1
Will look forward to following your progress.
