No way you could really turn down a 24v lump, and it looks like a handy way to wheel it onto the trailer too.

Sorry I am a bit late to respond but I remember David you mentioned this planned acquisition at Wetherby. There will certainly be lots of useful bits in that engine bay to keep other S1 24vs on the road. Those foil embellishments and other tasteful highlighting on the valve cover etc. are a bit of a scream and the non-standard hydraulic oil tank is intriguing. Could the body colour be original and if so what an earth is it!! By coincidence I was searching ebay recently and it brought up items on two 24v engine transplants, including one into a Renault Alpine. Sadly I fear a number of early XM 24vs must have been lost this way. Do let us know how you get on. With regards, Matthew T.

Mathew,

Dont think XMs were lost to the engines, I think the 605's copped that, they HAVE all gone, they also had the 24v engine, having said that, how many of those did they sell in the first place...
