Evening Folks,

I have a new member of the fleet to present to you.

Its a 1990 2.1 TD Manual. It has 22K miles on the clock and has just passed its MOT this evening, and the G Plate 2.0 Si passed its MOT yesterday evening. I must thank "R9UKE" on French Car Forum who found out about the car, and helped me track it down.

As a point of comparison between these two 1990 cars, the RP numbers are 99 apart, on the RP calculator, the white car was being made at the same time the grey one was being registered, and the white car was registered 5 days before my 7th Birthday!!

Having spoken to Paul (CitroenXm) about this car, it is the oldest RHD Diesel Xm known to us, with his SED being second oldest.

The car was the dealer demonstrator of WH Connollys in Belfast, and was sold to a Northern Irish Politician, The Rt Hon William (Bill) Craig, who paid £16000 for the car when it was almost a year old and with 2500 odd miles on the clock. Unfortunately Mr Criag died at 86 about 3 weeks after I bought car from his son.

Wow, what a find. Note the red steering wheel badge.

For info the grey wiper scuttle metal clip is fitted incorrectly, it should be behind the plastic.

Well spotted Will, the little plastic tab hasn't been screwed back in front of the bracket.

Congrats, that's a great find. I don't know how you do it! Just when you think there are no more here ,up pops another one - and what a fine example!!

Roy.

Looking good Robert, did she take much to get back into service?

What an interesting find Robert and you do have a knack of picking up very early and very low mileage cars!! What are your plans for the car I wonder? All the best, Matthew T.

Its luck I guess, pure luck that Luke (R9UKE) found out about the car in the first place!

Fortunately it didn't need much for MOT, front brake hoses, parking brake cables, and the spheres re-gassed were all it needed on that front, it has had all filters, and all belts changed too. A hell of a good clean was also required, It has been outside all its life. I need to change the coolant, and work on some electrical niggles before it is finished. It also has a few storage blemished that need to be sorted as well before its perfect.

The previous owner had the intention of MOTing the car about 3 years ago, he fitted new tyres to it then, but one of the front suspension cylinder leak off pipes broke on him, and he got the fear when he saw the leak. It was left at his local garage to replace all the low pressure return pipes. Needless to say this never happened, and never needed to happen!

My immediate plan for this car is to tax it next month, and go to some car rallies in it, and the Irish CCC rally in Cork, all being well I'll bring her over to CXM.

Hi Robert,

I like the colour :D .

You certainly have a nose for sniffing out the low mileage ones.

I didn't know you had a white CX as well, didn't you used to have a blue one?

Hi Paul,

Its a skill that I have developed over the past few years.

I still have the blue Athena, I still have to get it painted, but buying cars all the time keeps me from doing that. The white CX GTi is here on holiday, I have to change the Diravi unit and spheres for its owner, the steering is assisted when turning right, but not left. The CX GTi with the 3 speed auto is a nice car, the only other auto CX I have driven was a 2.5 Prestige, and the gear change wasn't good on it, and put me off, but the gear change on this one is nice.

Get it painted white then :D

I see your new aquisition is fitted out with your favourite upholstery, I've never seen that material in the flesh but in the pictures it looks really nice. A shame Citroen didn't continue it into the S2 cars, I wouldn't mind it in mine.
You got the best wheel trims too :P
The ninth picture looks identical to a picture you posted of your low mileage grey one a couple of years ago.
