Good evening all

First post here - just wanted to say 'hi'

I am the new owner of an XM Series 1.5 2.0 petrol 'Prestige.' L48 KBL (I think it's done the rounds - I've seen a few pictures on here from yesteryear - be interested to know if any of you are still about.)

It's had a phase 1 nose and steering wheel fitted since the pictures I've seen on here from years gone by. Currently sitting on 117,000 miles and I've done about 300 so far. The 2.0 petrol non turbo strikes me as a clunky, wheezy old beast but it's a great barge and lots of it still works!

Quite a bit of work has been completed recently and still a fair bit to tick off the list. It's my first XM having wanted one for years and also having regretted getting rid of my Xantias. I've had BXs in the past too. This is new and exciting territory however.

Good to see you and that is a nice Xm, though you say non-turbo. Has someone removed it, as it was a 2.0 turbo?

Technically, the two spoke wheel was the correct one for the model year, though I'm always confused when people refer to a Series 1.5, what is that? My thoughts are Xm came in two versions, Series 1 (Y3) and Series 2 (Y4). There were alterations continuously throughout the model life, so identifying any particular alterations as a model change are somewhat arbitrary.
If going by the interior and exterior plastics colour changes and reversion from single to twin spoke steering wheel, what about the introduction of Hydractive 2, would that not be another significant change?

Model years and Rp numbers seem to be the best way of identifying a particular version, to me.

I agree, this is a bit of a strange description, because Citroen made changes here and there throughout production. I think when people usually refer to the series 1.5 they mean the XMs with the two-spoke wheel, and the logic might be that these models do not suffer from the problems that the early production cars did, such as earths, short pistons on the V6, etc.
