What a result. I bet you're happy...
F19 is the fuse for the Hydractive ECU and F34 is the other supply, which is the door open supply.
This is why the car went into soft mode with doors open, but the Hydractive didn't work.

Delighted Will.

long May it continue....
That's exactly what was happening as you describe, and of course why Jim's Elit couldn't talk to the ECU. The thing had no power!

Fantastic Russ!
Isn't it a great feeling when a mysterious / difficult problem is solved by something so simple and easy.
Now, enjoy your XM the way it's meant to be!

I wonder if feeding power into F34 ECU connection could be a test or fix for an XM stuck in hard mode?

If you look at the wiring diagram you will see the ignition switch switches ECU 12v feeds through on/off sequences.
If you are going to do this manually you need to get the sequences right or the ECU may behave oddly.
I found this out the hard way with 2.5 engine ECU's while testing to find key code storage.
With just crude power feeds the two Microprocessors would start up the wrong way round half the time.
A wrong way start in that case ignored the keypad and gave an immediate start whatever code was entered.
With me changing the micro code each time I ended up with a lot of false information about the function of the code.

I am starting to look for an alternator belt, mine is looking past it to be honest, so it's time....
Trouble is, is finding the right size. I think I have found it, but need confirmation if anyone could help. Is 5PK1195 correct for a 2.1 auto with aircon?
There are so many different sizes for these belts. But this seems to be the one......
GSF ect have 1165 I think and from looking about that isn't right to me.

There is two belt lengths, dictated by the size of the altinator Pully. There seems to be two different size pullys. 5pk is correct, thats the number of ridges. 1165 is the length in MM if laid out at one length.

Thanks Paul, what's interesting is that Justin who also had and now defunct 2.1 auto with aircon, got a 1195 and it fit on his, according to his findings. I'm not going to be doing this myself, beyond me, but quite like to know the correct size.

Autos I beleve they have larger Altinators with a larger output. Not sure why. Larger starting battery.
