I had the misfortune today, to clean up the most difficult spillage in history. Melted foxes boiled fruit sweets that leaked out the bag into the velvet coating of the C5's glovebox. ERGH! The glovebox now has bold patches.

Been playing cars today. Fed the leather, looked a bit dry! Then main task was to sort out the crap windscreen washer jets on the drivers side. Essentially what had happened, was the trim panel was covering the jet, it had dropped too low. So it was slicing the water in half and causing a rubbish dribble. So a bit of sticky rubber pad for chair legs was stuffed under the trim and pushed it up a bit. Perfect now. And all work brilliantly.

What doesn't work brilliantly is the front electric windows. They were fine, until today, I went to open the drivers one and nothing. All front switches dead. Both windows non operative. All the other electric window and switches work a treat. All the puddle lights bar the faulty drivers door work. So there is no power as far as I can see getting to the front door switches only, but lights "open door message" and central locking all work. I checked the fuse for the windows, perfect and well seated. Most confused. I am going to try the wiggle technique. Make sure the plugs are all connected, which they should all be considering the LED conversion I have done.

Undo the drivers door wiring plug.
Clean up any verdigris on the contacts.
Refit and try again.
That connector has the main feeds to both front windows.

Really,... To both windows....that would make sense. Thanks John.
I have also found the front window control relay and fuse too. Just in case. Was a bit lost to its position, but it's on the back of the fuse board.

I managed to crack open the drivers door connector. Oooooo it was crusty. Quite difficult to undo the locking part. Anyway, its apart and quite green inside. So hopefully this will be the issue. Always the most obvious that's to blame. The light faded quickly so couldn't really do much. Better to do it tomorrow in daylight.

Hi Russ, has happened on mine a few times during my ownership...but they always spring back to life on their own.....weather/moisture related?

Just let your car do the work....they are perfectly able to fix themselves you know

I have had a very enjoyable day with Jim today. :D Tinkering with the car. Idle and fuel pump adjustments were made which has transformed the car and improved the gearbox issue a bit, especially kickdown. Then Jim reconnected my hydractive wires up and eliteded the ECU. Only trouble was the ECU didn't want to know.

Anyway, the electro valve works. It times in and times out as it should. The car goes from soft to hard when the doors are closed after 30 secs ect. Took it for a test drive, all seemed okay, went round corners nicely, not like a rolling barge!
But... Orange sport light is not working, it could very well be a bulb, or it could be something else. The switch is connected, or appears to be as the message pops up on the LCD display.
But on the drive home it felt far more solid and jittery than when it was forced into soft. It cannot be spheres as it was nice and soft before. So I'm sure it isn't meant to be this firm. It isn't totally unbearable, but no floaty ride is present. I am suspicious of the ECU. Still it's a step further to finding out why it was forced into soft mode permanently.

The sport light on the dashboard doesn't light up on mine on switching the ignition on, but I get the message 'Normal Suspension' on th L/M matrix display. Orange sport light comes on with the switchable mode and I can feel the difference. Jim suspected the usual sterling wheel sensor was a bit dicky on mine, hence no light with initial ignition switch on.
