Hi Will,
To keep it short and not go into too much detail — here’s the summary in a few sentences. The XM I bought turned out to be a pile of rust hidden under multiple layers of anti-corrosion junk. The car’s frame was so corroded that it wasn’t worth saving. On top of that, the workshop that was supposed to take on the repairs backed out, so I had to find another body shop quickly. The car went to a different garage, where it ended up sitting for a few years waiting for a “donor.”
The donor (another XM) I bought in Cornwall turned out to be in even worse condition, so in the end I had to abandon the whole project. I sent the remains of the car, along with other parts and components, to a garage that specializes in XMs. In return, I’ll get a discount on their refurbished parts, cars they have for sale, or restoration services (if I find a suitable car here in the UK).

That’s the whole story in short. I’m attaching a photo of the donor frame from Cornwall.

All that corrosion is pretty normal for an Xm.
I did note the transporter is Polish registered, off to Lubin it is.
