Re: K725 KVG has a new home
Thanks Vince, I'm almost complete with the tailgate, wiring loom, lock mechanism and wiper motor are in place, I'm just waiting for the spoiler to be re-painted now and then re-fit the lights etc. Hopefully I can have her taxed on the 1st March and bring her back into service.

Sounds good Ray. I have found a big stash of old receipts etc....its service history before I got it. Do you ever get over this way?

Re: K725 KVG has a new home
Thanks Vince, I'll be in touch to arrange collection?
Tailgate fitted this weekend, I'm just awaiting arrival of new trim retaining clips to put the finishing touches to her. I also fitted a new aerial base gasket, the deposits in the little metal cup under the aerial base show its been leaking quite badly through there.
But, all being well, she'll be ready for the road tomorrow (1st March) and I'm very much looking forward to driving her properly.

Re: K725 KVG has a new home
I've had 24 hours or so now with KVG and generally I'm a very happy boy! She drives lovely and smooth, smoother than any of the other XM's I've driven. There are however a couple of niggles.
Off side repeater not working.
Drivers door lock doesn't activate the central locking, it de-activates when I open the drivers door. It does lock when using the passenger side lock.
Rear passenger door doesn't respond to the central locking and the locking button doesn't/won't move.
Both rear passenger manual window winders don't work.
Gear change is very stiff. And I mean very stiff. Also, when in neutral if I move the lever over towards 5th/reverse a noise comes from the gearbox that sounds similar to a failing dual mass flywheel. When pulling away in first I can hear a high pitched whine and a noise similar to a failing wheel bearing when I engage 4th. Any ideas on where to start?

Is that noise happening just by moving the gear lever, or did you also depress the clutch?Synchromesh unit starting to break up?
How's the gearbox oil?

Depressing the clutch stops the noise. Letting the clutch out and there is a humming/rattle.
Went to Manchester today (about 35 miles on the Motorway) and no problems from the gearbox, no untoward noises.
Don't know about gearbox oil, I don't know how to check the level?

Re: K725 KVG has a new home
If the noise goes when you press the clutch ray thats the clutch release bearing.. they can rattle on for thousands of miles..

Here is the tailgate, it doesn't look like it's sitting right in this pic, needs a little fettling to make it look neater

Yeah I thought that, it goes quiet when you press the clutch in. Still got the problem of stiff gear change thoughcitroenxm wrote:If the noise goes when you press the clutch ray thats the clutch release bearing.. they can rattle on for thousands of miles..
