Paul, welcome to the land of the XM
The BXC Stand really stood out and the photo really does show just how. A very excellent job. Shame there's not one of the CCC stand for comparison but then again it would have been hard to have got a decent picture because it was in such a dark and dismal spot...

You Criminal! Ive probably got all the bits already removed from a few! I know theres about three front subframes Complete, and currently theres a rear one too..
Don't worry Paul, at least it wasn't an XM and the flavour of Xantia we broke you'd have hated anyway - it was a Hydractive one and actually rather rough in many areas... One that was generally thought as being beyond saving back in the day... Much lives on keeping other Xantias mobile though... Nothing was wasted...
So we do humbly apologise for breaking a Xantia Paul. I guess Xantia_V6 and I had better confess to breaking a V6 a few years back too...
I have never broken an XM though...

An AC Cobra with Hydractive suspension - this I really want to see! What a wonderful idea (Carroll Shelby who put AC Ace together with an American V8 gained the inspiration from the Allard J2s he used to race, so it would be right up my street) and it might go round corners too!

Hey the BX club stand looked great. I really will be there next year. So good to see more unusual cars given good space. Gets boring looking at MG's and triumphs all the time.
I kind of wish we could do our own XM stand., it could look excellent.

Needs proper commitment however I suppose.

This was our second year at the NEC. As Paul has stated, a carpet really does make all the difference. If you're a car buff, displaying your car at the NEC is a win, win, situation. You get to show off your pride and joy, you get to look at everyone else's cars and it doesn't cost you a penny. Well, we need public liability cover, but that's the only real cost. Go for it guys, it's worth all the effort.

I thought the BX stand was nicely set up and bright. The CCC stand seemed rather down at heel in comparison.
Any green stains on the carpet?

Oh you shouldn't judge BXs by XM standards - our cars never misbehave like that (

). On this occasion no LHM disasters but we did have drip trays for any 'misappropriated' oil.
I'd certainly recommend putting in an application for a stand - it does require a fair few club members to make a financial contribution and one or two to commit to coordinating it all - but the pay-off is more than worth it. I think it cost us about 600 quid in total (without an electric hook up - which we couldn't quite stretch to) and the carpet - which is reusable - we saw as an investment. Anyway the more French weirdness there is the better - there was A LOT of Union Jack chrome polishing there, and if you've seen one Humber Sceptre you've seen 'em all haven't you?!

The carpet and stand look great. You would be well advised to get some pads for the wheels otherwise the tyres will mark the carpet and some decent drip trays.
The grey cars look really nice.

We're home from our epic adventure today to collect the XM Estate. We found it looking very forlorn in a garage compound. It just fired up despite a weak battery but it runs great.
It's a bit scruffy in parts but basically OK. Immediate faults are the parking brake and it is the latch cable that's duff
We soon found it takes an eon to build hydraulic pressure and sinks at the front. Suspension is HARD. Tracking is way out and it smokes a bit under heavy acceleration and the tailgate is jammed shut.
I'm sure after a bit of WFA TLC it'll be good... It looks like it's been a bit deprived of love in the recent past.
We had a good trip back. The 2.5 is quite lively and well able to give a V6 a good run for its money

Hi Jim
Check out the tailgate rams and fixings carefully when you get it released before you open it fully.
The tailgate is incredibly heavy and can do you serious damage it falls back shut and catches you on the way.
You have got the performance wrong.
The V6 just hung back to avoid all the black smoke you were chucking out.
I will happily let you pay me to take it away when you realise obtaining a 2.5 was a mistake.
John
