Glad you had a good time Jim. Always a good show that one. I missed it this weekend, but next year I want go. Maybe with a stand of my own. Need to look into it.

Interesting idea the FCF / club XM stand. If the BX's guys can do it, why not us lot.
A great stand could be designed......

Glad you enjoyed it Jim, I too was very disappointed by the CCC stand, dark and out of the way with so little on it. The amount of work though is large - the Allard Owners Club put up a great stand each year with a theme (racing Allards this year) and have someone work on it all year (not all the time obviously!). It's a great way of building awareness of individual models - most of the big manufacturer cars have multiple clubs or registers (some are a bit like Life of Brian - "Bristol Owners and Drivers Association - splitters!".

Having been twice I would need good reason to go back - it's a bore getting in and all very packed.

I saw the Allard stand Charles, very impressive indeed..

Citroen had a very poor stand location last year although it was bigger by a tad than this years' effort. The BX Club boys had carpet and that apparently caused a bit of friction....

I’m wondering if the CCC has upset the organisers of the Car Show in some way.

Biggest insult was putting the CCC next to teh Volvo stand...

Done the insurance for another year. Just one change. The Xantia V6 and XM are on my Multi-Car Policy and the Activa has gone over to a limited mileage classic policy. Sense really as the Activa does very few miles.

I was going to SORN the Activa but for what I'd save it was not worth it plus if I want to take it for a spin on a nice winter day I can.

So, in doing all my cars plus those of the girls I've just shelled out the best part of two grand

Robyn promises she's going to pay me for her share but how can I take it from her? She starts Uni again in January and is going to need every penny...

Still, it's the thought that counts...

I'm so poor now I'm forced to make my own marmalade - just made a batch of clementine and lime and it's delicious. Citrus fruit are very cheap at the moment so it makes sense to buy a few and preserve them...

Sounds good Jim. The smell of making marmalade is quite intoxicating. Mmmmm! :D

I have just shelled out on the car ....road tax. An insulting amount but not quite 2k though! Just hope the car insurance will start to fall significantly next year. Which classic insurance did you go with. Most of my investigations have rewarded
A big fat zilch.

Still you must be pleased you can keep the Activa on he road through the winter.

Adrian Flux Russ. They gave me a very satisfactory deal and whilst they may not be the absolute cheapest they have excellent customer service and that means a lot to me... Yours they should be able to quote even better fore than mine as it's over 20 years old now.

2K is already a big come-down from last year now that Sian has one year under her belt and Robyn is now over 21 :D

Been a funny old day here, torrential rain earlier on, snow and now bright sunshine. I've even been out and done the weekly checks on the cars...

It might have been Adrian flux...can't remember now, but who ever they were, did do a deal at £200.00. Which is the lowest i have got so far. But further investigations found the deal actually comes from a company based in Malta. For some reason, the gut instinct kicked in...probably unnecessarily, and i declined it and went with a renewal from Admiral...which was only £20 dearer.
But I must look into it further classic insurance. The car is now 21.

Ah-haa. I'm back!

Was struck down with a bad attack of man-'flu that really decked me for a few days. Still not right now but better than I was.

Not done much cars but did manage to check over the V6 Xantia and XM as well as give both a very much needed wash in the lovely warm sunshine - for DEcember anyway.

Neither car had been washed since the summer and both have scrubbed up quite well...

Activa is well and truly hibernating now..

Team WFA, of which I'm a member, have bought an XM 2.5 Estate for a silly amount of money. It has issues and one involves the parking brake which I've posted separately on.

We pick it up on Wednesday. Immediately it's been procured for a team member who has a pressing need for a large diesel estate but we plan on keeping it as the team workhorse once it has fulfilled its first duty..

More news on Wednesday when we get to clap eyes on it. None of us has seen it yet but it does apparently have receipts for much recent work carried out...

I expect it's a green one...
