Indeed. I once knew of a high-mileage Ford Fiesta that used a drop of oil. Despite telling the owner to check and top up regularly he never did. Then he complained of the oil light coming on when going round corners..captainhaddock wrote:but some people apparently never do, so I found out today.

I had to work hard to open the bonnet because the release had rusted up due to lack of use

The car did perhaps another 200 miles before a big end seized and it threw a conrod through the side of the block.
I still have the remains of the piston and conrod..
And all for the want of just a bit of regular maintenance
