I want to use veg too, but cannot seem to summon up the courage to do it! Such a wuss!!
Bad luck on the trim flying off Charles.... A friend of mine, also a Citroen nutter!!....his grandfather used to flick his fog lights on. Looked like brake lights initially and the tail gaiter was left behind.

quite dangerous though!

The first time I used veg oil was a pain - 20 litre containers that spilled everywhere as they spurted into the new watering can I was using and sent oil flying. This time muggins had much better clothing and wellies, and learned the art of filling the container is to let some oil come out slowly, then put the can upright, pierce it with large holes on the side opposite the spout so when being poured the spout is at the bottom and the holes at the top. No more large spurts, just an even pour.
In the end it's obviously a bit messier than filling up at a petrol station, you have to source cheap enough oil, but it's pretty tried and tested with the Bosch pump and the engines seem to like it. Just don't make the mistake of filling your modern car with it!

A wuss Russ!

... One day,.... one day I shall put veg in the XM. I know many have proved it works, but I can't help thinking mine will be an XM and complain.

There is a certain whiff of boiling oil about the car, but just shove an extra strength air freshener, or go without washing yourself for several days...
