I used a water proof tape, a waterski tape actually, for the chrome side trims. It won't go on the bumpers strips as it doesn't corner. For your vinyl, would heat work? I have watched many youtube vids and they all use heat to stretch it round corners and unusual shapes like wingmirrors. It needs to be quite wider than the chrome strip I would think.
Love your idea of the clear wrap on the nose cone and bumpers. I want to get the nose one on mine painted at some point and wrapping it would be a very good way of protecting it against stones. Brilliant.

The stuff I sourced wasn't very vinyl like, its almost like the foil they wrap polo's in, heat doesn't effect it like the vinyl, I have seen a black chrome wrap done on YouTube which had some stretch but went white if stretched too much so not sure if it would work on the bumpers. An xm in a black chrome wrap would look awesome, if it was cheap I would do it for a year or so then pull it off if if I got bored but its a fairly expensive operation, I think the xm would be an easy thing to wrap as its rather straight and pointy with smooth folds rather than complex curves.

That silver stuff you have sounds a bit strange.

I think, and I'll have to check, you can buy small samples of chrome vinyl on ebay. I might do that one day and try it on a corner. I also want to get some tint film for the rear smoked lights. Try that out too.
If someone could do a mandarin vinyl, that would be amazing.

Although the dents would remain...
I think an XM would be quite easy to wrap. What about a velvet one!!!

What's not to love? OK so after that picture was taken it rained on the drive home and it took 4 Shampoo's to get the smell of wet dog out of it but other than that, and the constant grooming I'm sure its fine.......................
Anyway if you hate that your not going to be a fan of the FURarri!

sorry Dean... But it was a bit obvious!
I think the furry Audi is incredible and the XM will look fantastic in that!
If you shave it will you get the velvet style wrap!!

I like the Afgan Audi, but really like cars in black velvet.
As far as plastidip goes, forget it, it chips and peels in no time, as you would expect. It is a temporary show finish, not for regular use.
When I saw this image I thought...Thank God there's a car to look at...

What car?
I intended to use it on a temp basis Will it would last a fair while if it wasn't washed, it would seem its cheaper to wrap them in the short term as to do all 4 would be reasonably expensive with dip, certainly more than doing it properly but I'm not convinced it would look right.

The vinyl's interesting. All the rubbers on mine have seen better days. There has always been the temptation to put new rubbers on all around (if I could get hold of them

) but this could be a different way to go. I watch with interest.
