There's three of us treating it as a challenge Russ

Sadly, no work today on the RX but enough was done to the Activa blocking the hard-standing to allow it to move and for the RX to take its place ready for engine removal...

The engine will be most interesting to look at..

Yes, do look at what Paul has put in your FCF blog Vince. I think you'll be incredibly happy ;)

 , I mean the Light on the dash to tell you to put your seat belt on. It doesn't light up, annoying as I did replace the bulb in the dash when it was out.
Must be some wiring on the seatbelt catch. Stupid thing to want to fix really!

Vince, got the double garage, just not heated and no room to do anything in there.
Oh well!

Sounds like a potential project to me Russ ;)

Clear out and install heating. I would. Anything non-automotive and not needed for maintenance of cars would be gone. End of...

I've a single garage that has no room to get a car into but it is a reasonably well equipped workshop. All my work is done on my driveway in front of it. Not always ideal, especially in current weather!

Well with the garage, it is at the back of the house at the end of the garden. So really only source of heat would be something like a log burner..which actually would work very nicely, as the amount of wood in there could be useful fuel for that!

It also has a very tight turning in to it, literally 90 degrees to the single track lane which is the only access to the garage. So not ideal to park cars in there for every day use. It is a real faff.
But you can park the car in the lane and work on it there. Need hard standing though for jacking.

But you are right Jim, it needs extensive clearing, insulating and new windows ect. Big project. But a fun one.

When it has been nearly empty, we've had an Audi 80 and MG Midget in there side by side before now. Gawd knows how mind you!

Well its been a few days again so whats been going on?

Work is work, so thats done...although i have agreed with my boss that i can swap the Scenic for an 11 plate Citroen Picasso :) One of my colleagues has the car already, but as he started earlier than me he is soon due a new car, which puts that one up for grabs....its a high spec one with climate and the steering wheel that rotates but the centre horn push stays static. Plus its an automatic...so roll on that one and bye bye Renault ;)

On the xm front, it was taken for a wash today and the tyres slicked. Its parked on the drive now looking fantastic as only an xm does 8-) Time depending i fancy a drive out into Manchester again tonight to get some more pictures if i can get the camera working again....it keeps shutting itself off

On the Pallas front, i did a range rover last sunday of which you can find the write up and pictures here http://pallasautorefinishing.wordpress. ... nge-rover/

And off the back of the great testimonial i got from the owner on the range rover forum, have scored another one to do next saturday off a different owner ;) Range rovers are such nice cars to work on as they have large flat panels and the quality of paint finish you can achieve is fantastic as you can see on the pictures.....the only problem is they are so big you have to do the roofs outside, and i cant close the garage door when im working on them as its so big, meaning that in these cold temperatures the garage is just as cold inside as outside....which kind of knocks some of the fun out of it when you hands feel like someone is driving pins into them :(

Well you'd think id be pretty flush what with a wage rise and cars starting to flow again now that the weather is picking up abit, but alas we are re doing the bathroom.....which means "the lord gives, the lord takes away" :( ....I wanted to save the money off the cars im doing in a little pot....(the range rovers are nice earning jobs) that way once im up to about a grand if any older citroens come up i can take the opportunity to go older and then sell the xm on to recoup the pot ;) A nice little Ami, or something like that :D

Reply to old post.
Seat belt warning light symbol got added to the dash display during later part of 1995 Model Year.
I think that it replaced the sidelight symbol.
Do not think they included the seat belt wiring and bulb until 1997 or 1998.
Only XM I can remember seeing it on was a T reg scrapper.
The reason for noticing was the extra wires on the back of the clocks.
The seat belt bulb was missing but a pair of wires ran from its holder to the ABS light.
