Nope all totally stock at the moment, one of the rear bushes is suffering, when they are due for replacement i will look at it then, i have recovered the V6 suspension components so i can prep the other arms and fit new bushes to swap them over the winter.

Have you swapped the front suspension struts and ARB to the V6 items?
My 2.0i have the same struts and strut tops like V6 S1 ones.Maybe EU spec cars have different specs.

Had another failure today, my hydraulic pump V-belt has turned itself into rubber dust, the damn thing kept stretching and almost every time I've driven it I have had to tighten it up and now i have reached the end of the adjuster travel.

Will have to measure it out and buy a new one..........

Been a bit suspicious of new V belts for a while. I have had several and all seem to make a racket quite quickly.

Some seem bigger then they are meant to be, or they stretch very quickly. No matter how tight they are, they chirp. I have spoken to others at CCC rallies and they have had same experiences.

Thanks Will

I had the correct age pump and bracket for the longer belt but when it was initially fitted the adjuster was half way out, then every time i took the car out the steering wheel would be juddering or the FDV would start hissing while driving, no belt squeal though, tightened the belt and then the same thing would happen again, and again until i now have no further adjustment on the pump bracket.
I can turn the pump by hand and the belt slips on the cam pulley now and im out of adjustment, i have not had this before but hope i don't get it again, your findings are not encouraging Russ

Power steering cogging is normally a sign of air in the hydraulic pump.

It doesn't Go notchy, the wheel buzzes either side of centre (initial hydro assist application) and the FDV hisses constantly.

It's odd, I'm using the same FDV and Pressure reg from the car but with the V6 pump now and (so long as the belt does not slip) the FDV does not hiss at all but with the old engine it used to do it when cold.
The 2.0 engine had a recon pump on it and it made no difference either, always hissed while cold.

New belt has been fitted, I got the shorter one and it is too short, I had to loop it onto the pulley then crank the engine to get it on, with the adjuster fully loosened the belt is what I would call Jeffing tight so if it stretches or settles again I will have lots of adjustment to play with.

250 miles total driving now, the maths suggests I'm getting 21.91mpg which is slightly better fuel economy than the 2.0i engine, not bad at all.
I will see how it goes on further fill ups but I was expecting less than that.
