Right. So there is a possibility of a headlining out of any car with a trapezium shaped light. Would just have to cut out for the sunroof. That would be my preference.

Any late S2 car, with no sunroof, will have what you need.
You will probably need to make some padding for it to fit the aperture nicely, but...

If all else fails, try Danny at WHM. He won't be cheap, but may have broken one.

Or an early sunroof car headlining Eddie, although I admit also a very rare bird! Have you managed to speak with Mark at Edwards & Son and I recall the car was a black 2.0sei (tel. 01277 651486)? Regards, Matthew T.

Thanks, Will.

Anyone know where such a car is breaking? Must be light coloured cloth.

No I haven't Matthew, I'll ring tomorrow.

I have at least two Mk2 estates without sunroofs.
From memory these have the smaller trapizium shaped light.
There are also drawings of the two types of light in the Citroen UK 1990 owners manual (XM-GB-5001).
Trapizium shape (pages 58 & 60), Square shape page 64.
The text with these drawings suggests the trapizium shape was normally fitted to non sunroof cars.
I suspect the headlining you are looking for will be common in French scrapyards but very rare over here.
I believe that for the Oct 1989 XM launch in the UK the dealers demonstrators were factory modified during production from standard French cars.
If my memory is correct I have read somewhere that a batch of non standard sunroofs were fitted to these cars.

That is interesting John and might explain why some very early UK cars with sunroofs had the non-sunroof light. The best place to look for a headlining of the right type and colour might be France or Germany, given that they generally did not have sunroofs there! Regards, Matthew T.

Yes.... I'm sure I read a thread about the mysterious sunroofs on early cars ages ago. I think in fact the car in question was XMcentrals Olympic blue car..Mouseflakes old car. Weren't they slightly mirror finished rather than tinted.

What's annoying me is that, apart from the gear knob and front speakers, I've got everything I need to put the car back together, but I'm going to end up spending an age sorting the headlining out . . . purely because the guy ripped it out because he didn't like it!!
