I've removed the tape on mine. Had it parked up nose-up and sure enough, the rear of the headlining is now soaked. We've had some horrific rain lately. Very annoying. It's definitely a rotten-frame issue on the sunroof but I can't work out if it is also leaking elsewhere. Did pull the headlining down for a look but EVERYTHING was wet.

My main issue at the moment is iffy relays though, so now the sun is shining, I'd better get out and clean them up a bit.

Sun roof is a water catch and disposal system, not a water stop system.
In heavy rain it runs in water with volume passing depending on how tight the seal fits.
Poor seal fit can just be poor positional setting of the glass drive.
Parking at a steep angle can build up water at one end or corner of the tray.
Tray hoses are push fit and can sometimes be found detached.
Worse is where someone blockage clearing has poked away with a piece of wire and put holes in the tube.

Sunroof tray can hold an amazing amount of water.
A wet car will stay damp and take weeks to dry out even if the fault is found and cured.
If the car came with the sunroof taped up put the tape back for now.
Not the time of year to sort sunroofs in car.
My preference would be to get a spare and rebuild it in the dry ready to fit in the better weather.

Thing is, I taped it up myself and it made no sodding difference. Which I don't understand. I can only assume that capillary action was sucking water underneath the tape. Or perhaps it's getting in via the joint - which isn't entirely together - where the seal ends meet, then tracking around inside the seal.

Water is still somehow bypassing the glass seal - I'm well aware of how the sunroof drains should work, but water is getting inside of the tray, so can't be collected to drain off. I'm not parking it on steep slopes, just enough to not be entirely level. Now the sodden headlining cloth is starting to drop off, and water is leaking onto the seats. I may try and tape it up again tomorrow as it is forecast to be dry.

Did any other PSA ( or other marques ) use the same sunroof cassette? I'm presuming it's a standard Webasto fitment.

I think it was used on dozens of other vehicles.

Webasto list a number of service agents on their website. Might be possible to buy a new glass section if the metalwork or bonding has failed.

It is likely to be the bond between the glass and frame has failed. Rebond it with winsdcreen mastic.

What's the best medium for separating the original bonding? Cheese wire?

Thanks DM. Glass sunroof and metal implements would spell disaster in my hands. :-o
