Good point, this new members malarkey has gone on long enough, we actually have an XM now lol 8-)

And so much for the lie in, youngest was in our room at 6.45 this morning... Think Hydraulic Citroens are quite the novelty to 5 & 11 year olds!
I found that hydraulic Citroens are quite the novelty to 21 & 23 year olds!

Nah, fortunately for us the fragile tab on the lid is intact, it's the latch part that's failed & the spring & little bits are lost forever, presumably to the seller's hoover

Good point on the TV front latch, and even better I do have an old Sony KV of some description lying around being robbed of it's electrolytics & such 8-) so may be in business there....

As for photos, I've taken them just not had a chance to upload them yet (it's the weekend, weather's been foul & we have 2 boys of 5 and 11 so you can only imagine the amount of tidying up and feeding that has gone on in between 2 minute "breaks" to play with the car... Should get a chance to upload tomorrow while school takes the strain, all being well.

With the plastic hinge on one side broken and losing its vital pivot-lug, I managed to do a repair to the lid by simply fitting a slim metal rod across the underside of the lid, through the hinge lugs, and extending into the lid surround. The closing springs were located by the new rod.

If all else fails, always possible to remove the two small hinge springs, abandon the catch, and just let the lid close under gravity. Might need a small tab to lift it open by.

Haha sounds like my "filing system", I know where stuff is though it's just getting to it over the other items that's an issue for me :? lack of space being the main problem for us sub-urbanites :) so it just gets stacked up higher...

Not entirely sure if we'll be able to make the journey in the XM given the welding work and some other niggles I want to attend to, a damaged leak off pipe on O/S/F strut & I think the strut itself may be passing a bit internally too since the car seems to sit lower on that corner when the engine is off. Also have a feeling the accumulator may be a bit flat but haven't had time to sit and listen/time it properly just yet, and the brakes although good show 33% imbalance across an axle (I have a feeling it could be "blood" on the front disc maybe, hope it's just that & nothing seized anyhow). Oh, and then there's some decidedly iffy looking hoses in the engine bay with jubilee clips round & oozing green around them so that's a definite look-into if we don't fancy a real low rider experience

My car has the lid intact and popping it open & closed each time it's started is a PIA so I think if it broke, I'd leave it!
