Evening Chaps,

One final update on the C5! I never got to the bottom of the horrible noise it was making, and decided to cut my losses before it calved!

The XM has now went into hibernation, and my new commuter has been bought! A 2004 S80 D5 SE Automagic with only 65K miles on it. I have had it a week, and done 800 miles in it so far. 43mpg, and its pretty swift too!

I'll let the pictures do the talking!

Gosh the C5 was rather short-lived Robert and I see you are actually now off Citroens again!! Is it me or does the new Volvo looks quite like a Jag. All the best for the new steed that is certainly well-appointed! With regards, Matthew T.

What a shame you couldn't fix the C5 Robert. It was a lovely car....probably a wise idea to get rid before it implodes. ;)
I'll be quite interested in how you get on with the Volvo. I rather like the s80 and s60 models. Very comfy seats I believe.

It is a pity the C5 was so short lived. It was a beautiful car to drive, and be in. I hope that my car was an isolated case, but they have different weaknesses like all cars that sour the whole experience.

The seats in the Volvo are very good. I was tempted by the S60, but this 80 came along and was hard to ignore. The 60 carries the lines better than the 80, and is big enough, but is a firmer riding car than the 80.

Very nice car. They seem to be much better value than similar sized german cars.
I nearly bought an s80 with factory lpg fitted but somehow ended up with my xm instead.
With the d5 make sure you get the timing belt done on time...

Have also been thinking of S80s (S60 too small for my liking), think they're underrated by the mass market. And something different to own -not another Audi  ! I like the styling too, bit different and without the "I'll eat you alive" face of the German breed or Alfas or lata Jags. More of the "subtle" variety -like a classic Cit design.

Btw, *so* weird to watch the interior photos and it *not* being an XM! :?
