Hi Guys.

Hoppers, Electric Avenue, Witton, Birmingham. S2 'R' Reg 2.5 Estate still with complete black leather interior and door cards. Air con. Mostly intact -- expansion bottle full of oil / water mix, so probably engine or intercooler issues. Under three cars, so no real prospect of reclaiming whole vehicle.

Mike.

Hi
Appreciate your advice.

Running 2.0 CT Turbo. Very quickly lost oil into coolant, thought it to be the head gasket, but noticed you comment below on another post. Are you suggesting that the intercooler could cause this somehow??

Thanks for your help

Hi

It wont be the intercooler on the tct, its and air to air type but it could either be the oil cooler has failed behind the filter, the thermostat housing to cylinderhead seal has failed or if the coolant has not been cared for too well its the headgasket thats failed.

I would not be as certain as Savoy on cause.
In my experience of 2.5's oil in coolant is as common from headgasket problems as it is from oil cooler failure.
The easy check is to loop the cooler out of circuit using a short piece of 15mm copper tube.
Then flush out the coolant and run the car for a few months seeing if the oil comes back.
