You havent forgotten our anniversary have you?...

Post by Dean » Mon Feb 11, 2019 11:15 pm

Not sure of the exact date but doesn't time fly eh!

clubxm.co.uk is 10 years old this coming April and with nearly 4500 members contributing over 110'000 posts what a success it has been.

Thank you, Ciaran for putting the time, money and effort into creating this resource and to everybody who has contributed over the years, maybe a good time to remember lost members who were taken too early too...

Many Thanks

That is good of you to remind us Dean, although initially I thought you meant the XM 30th! I thoroughly endorse and second your comments about the Forum and a BIG thank you to Ciaran, who is a real star! It is a good time to remember Jaap and Ray among others who are much missed and whose contributions were indeed so valuable. Happy Birthday everyone! With regards, Matthew T. PS. We need to think about the XM Big 3-0, perhaps a cake in conjuction with the Citroen 100th in Coventry and the 25th at Cosford was great. I wonder if we could get 30 cars in a line!

Ten years is a real achievement, and a tribute to Ciaran and the team who took the decision to launch the Forum to ensure it and the car had a future. I think we're held in quite some regard by others, not least for the detailed knowledge which has built up for a so-called "single model". We've a lot to be proud of.

I noticed recently that the .com domain was for sale, i take it the forum has gone, maybe for good, a real shame that we had to move over and the temp solution kind of took over, there was a lot of valuable information there and NOZ had put a lot of work into the site.

Hi Dean

NOZ's forum still lives and gets looked at but posters are a bit thin these days.
It went down for a couple of days last week but Noz put it back up without any prompting by me.

There are a lot of variations offered for club-xm type domains by organisations and individuals looking to make money.
Most are speculative and work off list of names due for renewal
Please give me a link if you can to the sale offer you saw just in case it is real.

Hi Dean

Thanks for the link.
That expensive offer is not Noz's site, just a similar name empty site available at great expense.
Noz = club-xm.com = provided to us free still.
Offer = ClubXm,com = nearly $2400 to them for an empty website.
Copy anything you need from Noz's site as we have no certainty it will reappear next time it goes down.
As the active Mod over there I would hope Noz offers the site on if he wants to stop supporting us.
The viewing hit rate is still very high, it is just the posting that has dried up.

This. Co. UK site was created because there was a script error on the sql date base link on noz site and he admitted to me he was not sure how to fix it.

It was down for some time and with help of some one I knew who knew his sql etc knew what to do once I showed him. By this time the dot com site had been absent for sometime this. Co. UK site had in the mean time been created. We then ended up with both site where this Co. Uk site had gained some attention.

Really, not wanting to belittle the efforts of the recent changes :-), but is there any hope of ever getting Tapatalk back? I know there is a great deal of animosity between the PhpBB and Tapatalk crowds but still?
