OK recover it and keep it. It is only screwed into the front panel. 4 or 6 screws..

We have the upper part around speedo..and heater vents
Main front panel with dash switches and you have the panel for the lcd displays..
Lower panel on passenger side to go under the dash..

Id you look at the door on the panel from under the dash there's a twist catch you turn to open the lid. Pull it out of its place and keep that too. The one I have just needs that bit.
