Not me this time but the Auctioneers at nearby King's Lynn with an early 2.1 diesel and a guide price around £2,500.

It will be interesting to see what the car fetches!

That is Rob Smarts recently sold car. Looking at the pictures, is that Umm...Patrick Rugg's drive?

Somewhat surprisingly, the car does require some work and has already been welded. It will be a great car once done.

VIN for reference as it's posted in the advert. VF7Y3AF0001AF0034

Well spotted Will and I should have recognized the plate as from NI and made the connection! I would not be at all surprised if Patrick R. was involved as he also bought and sold on at least one of Ray Noon's cars. With regards, Matthew T.

Something's not right here imo. Whenever a certain Mr Rugg gets involved he does so for a wage. That implies that either Robert gave the car away to the buyer or the buyer did so to Mr Rugg as the reserve price is very low for a low mileage car with excellent provenance. Series one cars are few and far between as it stands and a decent one like this would command interest, especially considering how early it is.

It will be interesting to see how much it eventually goes for, but the back story will be much more enlightening.

Rob Smarts asking price was close to the guide price here.
The car has paintwork issues and the wrong wheels. I suspect the cost of recification has put a prospective buyer off, so the car is now being offloaded.

As you say, it's an early series 1 diesel. Rp 4876. Possibly the earliest UK build spec diesel., as it was built before the launch date.

There is interesting (good) history for this car.

Which suggests the buyer didn't factor in paint when he bought it. Even so there's still plenty of leeway for paint and wheels at that price and the buyer gets a bloody good car.

Nowt as funny as folk!
