2.0Si Manual Olympic Blue

Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

2.0Si Manual Olympic Blue

Post by mouseflakes » Sat Nov 14, 2009 2:19 am

Okay - It seems I simply don't have time to get an XM (any XM!) up together!

My 2.0Si is therefore available to anyone who might be interested in it.

1990 - around 71,000 miles. Mot until spring 2010 (I'll check actual date). Tax to March I think (ditto).

I'm looking for £200 ono, plus something towards the remaining tax (negotiable).

Here's a list of the main 'bads' - I will add to this as I think of things.

Clutch - history shows it was new ~8000 miles ago but it has a most annoying judder on take up when pulling away. I assume this is down to either poor fitting, poor manufacture of the parts or a worn engine/'box mount - I haven't had the chance to look into this yet.

Slight hunting on the over-run.

Strut tops - a little flaky - not too bad.

There is a creak from the OSF - possibly lower wishbone - after about five minutes use - not from cold though ???

Suspension - stuck in sports mode. I think this could be the electrovalve (just one on this car). When I traced the electrical connection to it the connector seems almost 'welded' on - like it has melted a little?

Rear subframe is rusty - I did some welded repairs to this for the MOT (quite nicely even though I say it myself - MOT tester couldn't see where it had been done) but if I were keeping the car I would want to be fitting a replacement at some time in the future.

Sills - rear end - the bottom lip is getting a little flaky on both sides. No holes, just a little rippled looking.

Small hole below passenger footwell - advisory on last MOT.

Slight weep from hyd. pump spindle.

OSR passenger window - plastic clip on runner is broken - I have replacement - just not fitted (sadly - that's the hard part ;) )

Shallow dent in the NSR door. Small dink in OSR arch. Some repaired scuffs on the front bumper. Very slight rust flakes on one front arch. Oh yes - one end of the front bumper - a mount has rusted off nd the bumper has dropped a little (just in the last couple of weeks).

But it looks nice!! :D

PM me if you are interested

Having seen the photographs, can I just say that I feel that Mouseflakes is being perhaps a tad overly modest with regard to his subframe repair; he has made a beautifully neat job of it, and if it were my car I would by no means feel that subframe replacement was imminent...

Lovely car at a bargain price IMHO.

I would love that car, but since I have a 2.0 Si on a G, I don't want duplicates. But what a lovely colour.

Good luck Tim.

I've never seen a cleaner engine bay outside of a new car.

I'll bet Jorgy is chewing the carpet - I told him another would be along shortly!

I'm embarrassed to say - the clean engine bay is not down to any effort on my part  . However - I like to think I saved it from the scrapper with a couple of weekends worth of welding (thanks for the kind comments Jonathan) - so I feel I've done my bit :) . From what I've heard, Dean's engine bay is the place to go if you're short of dinner plates - am I right Dean? :D

I did PM Jorgy just before he got his new car but he missed the message for a couple of days - but from what I recall in his original search criteria, he was quite keen to get a series 1.5 car, not a real early one. I'm sure the one he's getting will work out nicely - my car probably has a similar number issues to be sorted.

Derek

I am, yes! And the price looks right also!! Gives all the right motivation to the new onwer to invest in perfecting this example.

Always thought this is a very, very pretty car. Hope I don't regret insisting on the other one.

These 2lt engine bays look like a football stadium after u've been used to looking at a V6 -a very welcomed comfort factor!
