*FOR SALE* Series 2 XM 2.0 16V SX Auto - Black

Hi,
With regret, I’m selling my XM. Owned since July 2010. Started out as my daily driver. Need to concentrate on (and raise funds for) my GSA X1 restoration or it’ll never get done!
1997 (R) 2.0 16V SX Auto Hatchback in black.
136,000 miles.
MOT 02/08/2017.
I’m looking for £400 o.n.o.
Has the benefit of aftermarket air conditioning (not standard on the SX), although it could do with a re-gas. Rides on 16” Volvo 850 T5 alloys, which I guess may not be everyone’s taste but I think they really suit the car. Solid car but had its first two patches of welding for the last MOT. Excellent strut tops, one untouched and the other properly rustproofed after the first sign of peeling showed through. Engine top-end rebuild and cambelt change in 2013 at approximately 131,000 miles. Very presentable bodywork and shines up well, although there are some lacquer issues on the roof and part of the bonnet. Excellent interior, seats unmarked. Steering wheel a bit messy on the rim but I can sell you a good leather wheel separately if required.
Main issue is with the auto box and has been present since I’ve had the car, but hasn’t got any worse. There appears to be some kind of issue with the lock up in 4th gear. When driven from a cold start up, the box behaves perfectly for the entire journey. However, if the journey is broken, by a stop for petrol for example, on restart the box feels as though it is slipping or trying to change down once it reaches 4th gear. As I said, it hasn’t got any worse and I’ve changed the fluid regularly. It’s easy to drive around by keeping it in 3rd and is less of an issue the faster you go. Any ideas what this could be gratefully accepted!
Other issues are... Passenger window has stopped working (I have a replacement mechanism that will come with the car). Sunroof stopped working properly on the way back from Wetherby last weekend (I think it is the switch as it goes back fine but won’t come forward or tilt without manual intervention). Dent on the NS front wing above the bumper (hardly noticeable and panel not scratched or creased). Small dent/scratch on NS rear quarter (annoying car park incident but not very noticeable). Spare tyre carrier needs repair. Front bumper cracked next to NS indicator assembly. Spheres probably need a recharge (done 5 years ago). Clock/temp display perfectly readable but is slightly damaged.
I’ve tried to be as honest as I can. It really is a great car and I’ll be sorry to see it go. PM me if you’re interested. Car located in Huddersfield West Yorkshire. I’ll get some pics posted ASAP.
Thanks,
Andy.
