When did that happen?
Sorry, I don't have a quaterlight...actually, I'll check in the morning, I might have a complete OSR door, with glass in. That piece is bonded in, but I will cut it out if I do have one.

That would be great if you do have one, cheers.
Happened this evening - central locking spazzed and locked my son in the car whilst it was still running!

That's a nice welcome! Sorry to hear this. In future, the central locking does not always lock the boot... (worth checking when locking up!). That saved me when it also managed to lock me out while running.

That also happened to me when Micky dog locked me out of the car on a trip to the tip (I now always take the key out of the ignition now) and I tried everything to get the doors to unlock without success (the intermittent boot lock having Been repaired by Malcolm in Burnley shortly before) so I broke the smallest window which I thought would be easy to replace (lol) I should have rung the window people first as I found the only one available was the drivers window, so after a somewhat long delay I found a window repairer who ordered and fitted a replacment glass which took 3 hours to fit after a lot of dismantling and cleaning.

Might not be a failure of the locking system.
Our Owners Handbook (XM-GB-5008, 1996) states:
" Opening the tailgate
Unlock with the remote control or the key.
The tailgate lock may be operated independently of the central locking.
- If the key is withdrawn in the vertical position, the locking will operate with the central locking system.
- If the key is withdrawn when inclined at a 45 degree angle, the locking will be independent of the central locking system and the tailgate may only be unlocked using the key. "
Easy enough to take the key out (if you ever use it) without thought to the setting created.
Not sure whether or not this applies to earlier vehicles.
