On ebay

Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

Hi Dean

Not sure about the differences and cannot find the pile of brochures and spec sheets.
Think that version of the "Prestige" lacked electric fronts seats and lidded front door pockets.
A year earlier the "Prestige" was an SEi according to Parkers:

"June 1991 Special edition 'Prestige', based on 2.0 SEi, launched in UK. New price £19245 (manual or auto)."

I thought the Premier was the old basic version now given a name to make it more attractive, it couldn't possibly be equivelant to SEi as even the Si had door pockets and electric seats.

Hi,going back a few years we had a Prestige and a Premier, both Prestiges had were lowest spec but had leather (non electric) and full cilmate. The premier we had was the lowest spec again but I`m sure it had different pattern seats to a normal i spec, grey with blue lines. They were all K reg cars.

Yes they were all base spec cars but the prestige got alloys, elec rear windows, alloys, digital climate with A/C, abs and heated mirrors the 'si' i had got elec cloth seats, door pockets, non digital climate without A/C rear elec windows and the secondary glazing screen, think it had the nice alloys with the big plastic disk in the middle too.

Not as standard, they were reserved for the SEi.

They must have been added fairly early in its life then, would they have been on the options list?.
Interestingly my prestige has rear cubby boxes with the lids but the front doesnt, strange eh.

Hi Dean & Dieselman

Had a look through my brochures now.
The 1990 car of the year broadsheet covers the citroen range.
It details the XM models as 2.0 carb ; 2.0i ; 2.0 Si ; 2.0 SEi ; 3.0 V6 Si ; 3.0 V6 Sei .
The original "classic XM Alloy wheels" were standard on both SEi's as was aircon and available as an option on all other XM models.
ABS was an option on the first 3 listed models, standard on the others.
Electric rear windows an option on the first 2 listed models. These models also had manual front seats with no option.
Coded anti-theft and trip computer was only available on the V6's.
The first 2 models did not get electric mirrors, automatic temperature control, front fog lamps or steering wheel buttons for control of the radio.

On Alloy wheels the first mention I have of the "etoille" wheels is the photos in the Estate launch brochure Oct 1991.

"Prestige" seems to be a bit of car branding applied to different models at different times rather that a consistant usage.

Plenty of 1993 brochures but as always not much for the critical year the question is about.

Having had a 1991 Si from new I concur with your synopsis; Electric seats and windows, fog lamps, single spoke steering wheel with radio buttons, No ABS or alloy wheels.

Great car...especially in white.. 8-)

Shame about the flaccid 2.0i engine..

Yes that would be the Magnetti merelli injection with mechanical ignition the bosch controlled one puts out another 15hp i think which does help liven it up a bit, i wonder what a carb model with 100hp was like :?
