BOUGHT: XM on a budget

Hi folks
Having driven three XMs this year, courtesy of three fine forum members, I simply have to own one. But being a motoring writer, my desire is much larger than my budget.
So, anyone got an XM for sale for my meagre budget of £500? Would prefer 1994 or earlier, would prefer 2.1 but I also realise beggars cannot be quite so choosy. Oh, but a tow bar would be nice! I'm entirely unfussed about spec.
Can anyone provide me with my dream motor vehicle? After many years of BXs, I've had to accept that they just don't push all the buttons I want them to.
Ideally, I need to get something sorted this week, as my Rover 400 is heading to a new home. Any assistance greatly appreciated.

Ian, regarding the car above, look on Gumtree and be quick if you want a bargain.
Hopefully there's nothing too amiss with it, and at that mileage....!

Aye. It's on my radar. Bloomin' long way from where I live though! That's the problem with cheap cars. They're often not cheap by the time you've collected them. Thanks though. I have seen the Gumtree ad and it does seem good value.

Looks very promising, I would have thought.
Typical that there is one available locally when I don't want one! They're usually miles away in places like Wales and Cambridge...

Where you at cosford in september???
You missed a K reg 2.1 sd which I have now got which only needed a hole in the cill welding and a new window winder clip.. I could if had my arm twisted.. but its up here in north wales now..
the car has already had head gasket.. cam belt.. water pump.. heater matrix.. brakes.. passenger new strut top.. etc etc..

They are never there locally for me, or when I want one! I'd have jumped at that 2.5 about 10 days ago. Same with the spares or repairs V6 (and that, miraculously, IS near me!) But now I have something else in the pipeline....

I was, but the wrong sodding day. I'm checking out a likely candidate tomorrow. 2.1 SX manual.

Are you sure it hasn't just been removed? He was asking £550 for it but bids (as I suspected) have gone beyond that now.
