Ah well, im not sure, as this used to be my dads job - a Citroen specialist, we still have left over regassing valves from then. So i will ask him where he gets them and who from, they are from this country though im sure.jorgy wrote:Chris, citroenmad wrote:
Id say the estate rides similar to the hatch, although slightly stiffer but then we keep a close eye on the hatch spheres and regass them.
Chris.
Can I ask, where did u get the valves to regass the spheres, and what equipment do u use to regass?
I'm very interested in getting to regass mine, I think it's silly to throw away a sphere. Mostly interested on getting valves, then I'd find somebody to regass for me.
Thanks
George
Im not sure if they are like the ones in the link, they look a bit different, they have two parts, the larger part screws into the top of the sphere, that has a screw thread which the regassing tool screws into, then when its regassed there is a screw in cap which goes in there. Its really easy like this and means spheres can actually be regassed on the car if you wish. Although obviously if its been a while since they were done they need pressure testing first.
The little pressure tester we have was made from, i think its a GS suspension strut, with a bottle jack under it to build up the pressure. Then we just buy bottles of gas, they last for ages, and use our recharging tool from there. Very simple really.
Fact is many people stopped doing sphere recharging because spheres were available from other courses so cheaply, almost for the cost of a sphere to be recharged.
However we have never used any other spheres other than genuine Citroen items, which can be expensive to buy new, although if you keep their pressures right they never need replacing.
WHile my dad was a Citroen specialist, he had a few problems when people supplied their own after market shperes to be fitted, some didnt last any time, some went pop straight away etc. So he soon stopped fitting peoples spheres and only fitted genuine Citroen spheres which he supplied to the customers. SInce then we have only ever used genuine items, and why not, its not as if they need replacing often if your regassing them.
Since we still have all of the things to do sphere regassing its really easy for us to do, and costs very little. We do still do the odd sphere regassing for some people though, as its hard to find people who do it. But if we didnt have access to this it would get a bit expensive replacing spheres with the genuine ones. We usually say spheres should be regassed every 30K miles or 3 years, which is generally true. Though these dimple ones last an awful lot longer.
