SOLD: 2.1TD MANUAL Estate, 58K miles Erm Bought!

Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

Well, i was very tempted to go with the 2.5 tyre size, of 205/65/15 i believe? To increase the gearing and make the speedo more inline with what the cars actually doing.

However this size comes with a higher load rating too, so they will have stiffer sidewalls. This is also the size tyres our C5 estate used and the hatch uses the 195/65 size. When i swapped wheels from car to car i could tell in the hatch that it was much harsher and crashy over bumps, but the steering was more direct. So i didnt want to risk that by going with the larger size and having to have higher load rated tyres, so i went for the normal 2.1 size.

As much as i love the ride in an Xm, i also like to put them in sports mode and enjoy some good roads too. So as the tyres are quite large section anyway i wasnt worried about finding one for comfort. Grip, especially grip in the wet - tyres with silica in are by far the best for this -, good steering feel, wear rates, noise and comfort are all things i like in a tyre, so it sometimes takes me a while to find what i want. - Yes thats very sad, i know! So since i liked the Pirellis before i went for those again, they certianly do their job well.

No, its not sinking fast at all, so i asume all is well with it in that case :)

Hi Chris

If u r going to flush the LHM, take the opportunity to run a session of Hydraflush on it, everything will only perform even better afterwards -at that age, and with only 58k, LHM is bound to have stalled at various points-.

If u r not going to be doing lots of mileage with it, u can even run it on an LHM/Hydraflush mix -some collectors whose cars see very few miles, run their Cits on 100% Hydraflush-.

cheers

Those are expensive, aren't they? Are they from Citroen -not sure if GSF etc do multilayer spheres?-. Last time I was in Citroen, a sphere was, like, £80!! Who buys from them!?!

Id say the estate rides similar to the hatch, although slightly stiffer but then we keep a close eye on the hatch spheres and regass them.

Chris,

Can I ask, where did u get the valves to regass the spheres, and what equipment do u use to regass?

I'm very interested in getting to regass mine, I think it's silly to throw away a sphere. Mostly interested on getting valves, then I'd find somebody to regass for me.

Thanks
George

Thanks very much dieselman,

I knew about this firm, but was hoping for something more....local !

So, is everybody here buying their sphere regassing apparatus from Italy? To present, there are 2 people I know of in the UK who do regass their spheres: Chris-Citroenmad and Norrie-Noz.

The XM owners of Planete-Citroen are already on their second group order from Technosir so would this indicate that..yes, one has to get the stuff from Italy :-(

So.....???

cheers

When I was running BX's and CX's there were quite a few poeple around re gassing spheres, I had some done, I wonder what happened to their equipment. I suspect it wasn't so sophisticated as that supplied by Tecnosir.

GSF used to sell the recharging kit made by Technosir for £150 and the valves and I still use mine occasionally.

In fact, they are sold individually and still listed:

Hi George,

I was planning on doing that, i think we still have hydraflush in the garage so ill see if i can find that. Will need to be one of the first thing swhich is done, as im sure the LHM will never have been changed and the filters will be dirty.

Ok a qestion, i was asuming its old LHM and dirty filter might have something to do with this but ... when the car is in high the steering is very heavy, almost as if the pump is weak, but im thinking this could be due to the old LHM?

Ill have to see if a flush and new LHm will cure this, but its something which ill do anyway.

It wont be doing loads and loads of mile, so i might try and run hydraflush for a while, can only do good :)
