A few years ago my 12v PRV LHD started leaking from the pump quite badly, and have been in that situation. Was impossible to get a new PRV pump from anywhere, and for a while I thought this was the end of the car. At first I had even sourced a second-hand pump, that started leaking too after a while.

I finally found a firm refurbishing pumps and they did the job no problem, and all was fine. I think they were called SP Pumps. Costed about £70 back then. Only issue they bumped on, was they found they didn't know which way to remove the shaft. They had given me a call to ask, I said "chance it, with no pump the car is not going anywhere, anyway", 5 mins after they called back to say it was done.

Hope this helps all PRV owners.

George

Very many thanks for that George and Paul and I have just sent an enquiry to SP. I felt sure there must be a specialist out there doing the work! Regards, Matthew T.

Just to confirm that I have spoken to Adrian at SP Water Pumps who seemed very helpful and quoted around £90 plus VAT to overhaul the pump including return postage. I hope to send off my spare for attention and I will let you know how matters progress. Regards, Matthew T.

Were you happy with the results from SP Matthew? i need to get my water pump re-built fairly sharp-ish, used it all week, parked it up Wed night, came out thursday morning and she was fine but was using the truck that day anyway, came back in the evening and the car had deposited a large pool of coolant from the water pump onto the ground, bit of an odd failure going like that of its on accord while not being used but alas it leaves me in need of a good water pump reman.

I was very sorry to hear about your leaking pump Dean and it is most likely the spindle seal that has failed. The other possibility is a misplaced 'o' ring on the connecting steel pipes and consequent puddling in the 'v', which will also eventually flow down beside the pump. The service from SP was excellent with my only criticism being that they painted the pump black! With regards, Matthew T.
