Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

Hi

BL Auto's replaced the auto-adaptive gearbox in my XM 24v. Top people in their knowledge of v6 citroens. Just about the only people I could find who actually wanted to fix my car. Most garages didn't want to touch it (typical replies about bloody citroens etc...) or gave me what I considered "get lost" quotes running into £4-5K. BL Autos were superb and I'd have no doubt in recommending them.

Car Literature - great to see that BL Auto's changed the fluid on your car. Essential I think for the auto-adaptive box.

As for other cars. How about a 3.0 Legacy or 406 3.0 coupe?

Cheers

Tony

Tony, I don't wish to be nosy but I'd love to have an idea of a ballpark £ for a pro rebuild of this auto adaptive
box if I don't fancy doing what CitroJim has done on his V6 Xantia. I've heard good things before about BL Autos
now the name jogs my memory.

Hi Tony

Yes, the guy who I bought the XM off gets BL Autos to do pretty much all of his necessary work on his Citroens, including his SM and CXs. He also described them (for what it's worth) as being the country's leading specialist in dealing with that particular V6 engine. I might have got my wires crossed here but I think the 3-litre V6 in similarly aged Renaults is the same, hence my feeling quite comfortable with the idea of running an Avantime.

As for your suggestions, well I think the 406 Coupe is a stunning car, really pretty - it's just from time to time I do need seating for five (not often admitedly) and the Pug only has four belts... The Legacy on the other hand is a different prospect. I really like the look of the current shape one but currently even early versions of those are beyond my means :-( One would definintely be a consideration otherwise. Someone today offered me a Rover 75 (Connoisseur spec) as a part ex for the XM. My dad ran a couple of 75s and despite their olde worlde look I do have a very soft spot for them - a Tourer would be especially handy... Mind, the XM's not sold yet so it's still a bit of a pipe dream for now.

Cheers

Keith

Hi Keith

Yep the V6 in the PSA and Renults were all the same. Which means that the 250bhp for the Clio V6 should be possible in an XM.

I had a 135bhp 75 Tourer for a while as a company car. Very comfy it was too, but non too exciting. Meant to be reliable too.
