Someone please go and get this

Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

192 quid and it still didn't meet reserve!

Might have another go when it's relisted, hopefully with a more realistic reserve. It's made me realise how much I *need* an XM

Just email him with an offer, normally works...

He just needs talked back to reality, as nice as it is, its an S1 XM with no MOT and a steering leak, so isn't worth anything north of 200 quid to the layman. Ask how much he thinks he would get if it were a 15 year old Mondeo with no test...

Have just e-mailed the gent (I live in hope). The figure I have in mind is £160-£180, does that seem reasonable? I really do fancy a SED, and there ain't loads left!

It does to a non XM person yes. At the end of the day its 'just another' MOT failed car, making it practically worthless, as it can't even go on the wonderful scrappage scheme like that.
In essence, I'd consider anything above scrap / salvage value reasonable in that case.

Yes it can be a cracking car, but its going to take knowledge and TLC to get it there, something the current owner doesn't seem too interested in doing.

That aside, its a belter of a car, I'd be after it myself if I wasn't so bloody skint an stocked up on cars, its the diesel twin of my own grey SEI...

It's a dilemma, I can't really afford it, and there is a lot of potential expense, eg. knackered gearbox (but I quite fancy having a go at fixing one) strut tops (but then I think I could probably make a new mounting and fit it to the remains like that Swede guy).

At the end of the day, it does look like a nice example, and it is of a spec and model that I would prefer...

Is the gearbox knackered on it? I must've missed that bit! :o

He doesn't say so, but I wouldn't be confident it was serviceable until I'd driven it. Even then, particularly given the miles and the boxes fairly underwhelming reputation, I feel I'd have to reconcile myself to having it in bits at some point!

Ive PLEANTY of gearbox's, im sure the DERV's and V6's use the same box, they certainly have the same ratios compared to the V6 SEi (1992) Ive got, and the TD Auto my mate has....

4 box's altogether, 3 on V6's and 1 on a 2.oi Turbo block..

This car is more a sister to my V6, K reg, and GREEN the same colour.. in fact, I could get confused!

Hate to tell you...

8-) (this smiley is wearing dark glasses for a reason...)

In fact not just any old grey, my favorite ETW bluey grey like my slightly banana'd K YAC! :(
