XM 2.1 TDSX manual VERY reluctantly for sale.

Sadly my insurance company have rolled me over and I can't afford to insure my XM when it expires on Monday so, as I said in the title, VERY reluctantly for sale.

Bought off Peter N of this electronic parish back in June, I've had some great times and she's been utterly reliable taking us to France and Belgium not to mention towing the caravan around this country to various 2CV racing events etc.

I know she's had a fairly recent cambelt, thrust bearing and spheres (done by Peter) but other than checking levels (doesn't use a drop of oil or coolant) and putting diesel in at approximately 1 gallon every 47 miles, I've done nothing to her-haven't had to although she's about due a service.

She's also due an MOT imminently (6th October) but has tax to the end of the year. MOT wise, I *think* she'll only need a few bits including anti roll bar links which Peter mentioned were rattling when I bought her but, being a mechanic by trade, I've not bothered to do. Once again

Although it's a reluctant sale, it's also rather desperate as it means I need to recommission my BX so I'll need to tax that.

Maybe a bit pie in the sky price-wise but, ideally I'd like around the £500 mark but I'm open to sensible offers.

PM me or e-mail me at spanners2cv@hotmail.co.uk or call/text on 07956 358451.

Thanks very much,

A ver unhappy Spanners

Does the Primo deal work Ok? Are all cars covered and whichever one you pick up the keys for is the one on the road at that time?

I know of them but have an Admiral multicar policy at present.

Will

I have an eclectic fleet and every vehicle is insured separately so I can pick the keys of any one and drive it, as can my wife. We have about £65,000 of cover split over the following:

Motorhome
Messerschmitt
Smart roadster
Xm
Bond
Vx Astra
Scooter
XM 2
3 x Honda Z600

The cars stored at my mum's are not covered.

It covers all the vehicles comprehensively, and all could be being used simultaneously, but they know that can't happen, hence the reduced premium. I have breakdown cover (including the three wheelers and the 4.6 tonne motorhome at 26ft long)

Admiral won't cover the mix that Primo does. They come recommended!

Because I'm half way through an insurance policy (several for different cars to be fair) that I'll be penalised on if I cancel and I quite simply cannot afford to start a new policy.

Multicar policies don't make you cancel and existing policy, they just give a credit for different start dates to align them.

Thanks. I'll try them next time round as this time I'm duty bound to insure with Admiral as they gave me discount based on that presumption.

I'm sure they don't. However, as I still don't have any money, I can't start a new policy and it would seem quite daft to keep my current multicar policy going AND start a new one specifically (for the timebeing) for the XM anyway?

Okay, back to the car and not other peoples insurance......

Took it for an MOT today and it failed. However, not on an awful lot so I'll be doing the work on it this weekend and it'll have a full 12 months MOT on it by this time next week.

Of course, it means I'm going to spending more money that I don't have on it so, to offset this a little, I'll be looking for around £650 ono for it.

Surely that's not too much for a manual 2.1 TD in reasonable condition with MOT to October 6th 2011 and tax to the end of the year?

Thanks.
