3 top td's

Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

They have all been for sale for ages and the blue 2.1 is an import. I like the bit about Co2 output at 116g/km, that would be 65.2 mpg...

Are the diesel autos a real no-no then?

Speaking as someone who's owned 3 petrol auto XM's and never had any probs.....

It depends how many miles you do, at nearly 20k a year which is what I do, it could fail anytime. :( :x

I have a TD auto and I love it. Its my first auto, and I would find it hard to go back to a manual. Changing gear is a chore, and manual Xms aren't renowned for their quality gear change, unless you get the cable operated gearbox as per the 2.5 TD. Then the 2.5TD is another can of worms!

Its like anything, as long as it has been well maintained then it will be fine. I have 2 spare auto boxes, so I'm not too concerned. And I do approx 20k miles a year in that car as well.

This could go on forever :D

Auto's pros:

Effortless gearchange, no heavy clutch, effectivly easier to drive, ideal for driving in traffic

Cons: Loss of fuel economy, noisy, change up to late, relativly short gearbox life.

Manual pros: Can change gear at your speed giving considerably better fuel economy and quietness, last virtually forever.

Cons: Heavy clutch, sloppy gear change, hard work to drive in traffic.

Is that a fair?
