Wanted : Boot strut

Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

Wanted : Boot strut

Post by boyse7en » Fri Mar 12, 2010 2:34 pm

Due to the coagulating damp leaves from a tree near my parking spot, the bottom fitting of a boot strut (passenger/nearside) has rusted away.

Anyone got one that I can get the end fitting off of? Obviously it doesn't need to be a working strut, just not rusted away!

Or you could get them from http://www.sgs-engineering.com/pages/st ... n/range/XM. And I thought Dieselman said he was from Yorkshire.

I couldn't remember SGS, but I do remembera member sending a CX strut to be regassed and it taking forever, with no feedback..

Still the end fittings are cheaper from strudirect though.. http://www.strutsdirect.co.uk/component ... p-496.html

Yorkshireness restored.. ;)

Thanks for the links. The page linked to shows :-

Steel Ball Joints - SBJ-2

Dimensions
Type A: 20
Type B: 13
Type C: M6x1.0
Type D: M6x1.0

Suitable for Gas Strut SD01 or SD02

I've just measured the strut on my car, and it has a diameter of 8mm. Not knowing much about thread etc, but should that be an M8 ball joint?
