As a matter of interest, if the bonnet scoop on the other XM is stuck on does that mean there's no hole in the bonnet I wonder.

I doubt there's an 'ole as there's nothing for one to connect or feed to there.

I think its the exhaust treatment that puts me off the most. Also has the increased performance taken its toll on an ageing car, by making it more un-reliable?

What increased performance? Assuming the exhaust is actually reducing back pressure it will be doing the engine and turbo a favour by reducing pumping losses and EGT.

I quite like the exhausts, the rest of it is woeful.
That bonnet scoop puts me in mind of a chavved up 306, Xsara, or Paxo.... and at least on those cars it actually has a chance of doing something, with the 306 having that silly tiny top mounted intercooler instead of at the front...

On an XM its just a complete waste of time, and looks like the cheap stick on tat that it is...

My only objection to such behavour is that it's been done to a 'rare' car. It makes me laugh when I see Corsas, Puntos, etc. 'modded' but that XM, good job it's superficial.

Still at the end of the day it's the owners choice.
