I'm a little worried by the gearbox hydraulic leak. Bad? Also the fuel pump thing could be expensive. I was hoping that, because it says petrol in the listing, some might not go any further and realise that it's actually diesel, much better, of course

If indeed it is a hydraulic pipe leaking it is more likely to be a cheap seal rather than the pipe itself, even so finding a pipe would not be difficult or expensive if necessary. It could be the FDV itself weeping, which is DIYable, but a fiddle.

The leaking spindle on the (Lucas/CAV I should think) diesel pump can be fairly easily replaced if you are practical and at minimum cost, although it wouldn't surprise me if a diesel specialist charged about £100.

2.1 clutch at 91,000 miles not unless he has been racing in it. The only one I had a clutch go in was at about 250,000 and then it was still drivable when I sold it at 292k. I would be more worried about the head gasket but they usually last 150k.

Bodywise, and underneath in particular it's very good indeed, It needs a few things doing, one of which I didn't detect on test, but nothing insurmountable.

It seemed to cope OK with 180 miles home and a then bit of a trip around the local lanes...

91k GENUINE miles backed by MOT's and MAIN DEALER servicing..FWIW... LOL..

Well done dieselman,I think you have one of the few remaing decent 2.1 manuals, had it been a Mk2 I would have interested myself. The first one I bought had more miles than yours and I paid many times the price of that one for it.

Thanks Guys. I intend to restore the car to former glory, either quickly or slowly depending on time. I'm really chuffed I bought the manual as having driven an auto a week ago the gear change points and associated buzzing put me off.

I've had a 2.1 auto before so the manual is a refreshing change, also my other car is an auto and is very relaxed and quiet so the 2.1 auto seemed a bit frantic in comparison.
