2.5td

Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

Hi Terry

The couple of spares I have are split. Both round the central seam.
Though it might be worth slicing the joint open right the way round, refacing and regluing.
Then find some way to crimp the flange all the way round.

Someone at Doncaster has been trying to sell a blown 2.5 engine for a while now on ebay.
Wants too much. Still he might take £50 for the header tank and the oil cooler.
Always worth asking the price of a new one.

Thank you Robert.
That is cheap enough to buy one rather than repair.

I agree John, I would replace it for a new one. I would hate to see someone cook their 2.5TD for the sake of spending £50.

ordering one from evans and hallshaw, stockton £41,76+vat . as for the oil cooler has anyone cut a leaky one up to see how its made inside, as i know the lads at great northern steam (i make canopy,s for there traction engines) and they do a lot of pipe work of all sizes for the boilers etc some of their engines are only a couple of feet long and they use ,steel ,copper, brass and stainless

Hi Terry

Not yet cut one up.
Lots of interesting skills retained within the railway preservation groups.
