It's for non-hydractive models, 3.5mm input thread

Need to know what model xm it will fit, because the four fix on points are in different set up, like the early petrol none turbo saloons will not fit the turbo diesel estates, I found that out the hard way

Oh...I bought it for 1990 my sedan (saloon), I showed the part number on top but I thought it was the same for all non-hydractive Y3 models. I looked up the part # but I can't seem to suss out what the differences are.

That strut top is a left hand top for any smaller diameter strut (23mm rod, 16mm thread), but is drilled to take the non-hydractive 3.5mm feed pipe.
23mm struts were fitted to all Series 1, Xm and lighter 2.0 petrol Series 2, until 1996, when thicker 25mm struts were fitted universally.

Base plates are universal, the cast top is turned 90 degrees to make the unit either left, or right hand fitting.

What about the differences between diesel and petrol, saloon and estates, auto and manuals.
When I tried to fit an early petrol saloon none turbo manual to the car that I use now, diesel estate turbo auto, the four bolts would not line up.
I still got that job to do on my car, replace that strut top

It must have been for the other side, maybe you got two lefts or two rights?

I took it off my first XM to fit my second XM, the one that I am driving around now

All strut tops are interchangeable.
When Citroen deleted the thinner 23mm strut, it was mandatory to fit new strut tops as well as the new, thicker strut, to any age Xm.

A different bolt pattern would mean a different bodyshell.
