Can't see how slow I'm going

Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

Being a series 2 car, your Xm should use an electronic speedo, not a cable driven one.
Are you sure you need a cable?

Electronic speedo failures are normally either, the speed sensor on the gearbox has failed, or the small, three pin, connector on the speedo itself, has cracked solder joints.

If the speedo is electronic it can be tested by disconnecting the speed sensor and shorting the trigger wire rapidly on/off to Gnd, with the ignition switched on.

If your car really does have a cable, they appear to be readily available, it may be simpler and cheaper to have one made up locally.

I thought the only S2 speed drive cable was for the Diravi system...which afaik, your car doesn't have.

Thanks for the info Will, I can definitely confirm it's got a cable, saw it being packed this morning.
It's off to Bangkok to be copied.
Just another anomaly, like having a S1 lighting switch!

There was some confusion (I think :? ) about Rex's RP number, and so the build date...
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=9818=VIN#p117213.
Not sure what the final verdict was.

Looking back at the thread, one clue might be the printed/stamped build date shown on many of the car's electrical components and plastic items, where Week-Year is usually shown, and is normally quite close to the factory date for the car.

Could explain the speedo cable.

That part number (6123 H6) is coming up as XM II 2.0 i 16v 135, DIRAVI.
Is that right?
If the cable is being copied, I guess not an issue.

Seraphi's car has a S1 instruments fitted, so a mechanical speedo.

Assuming it has the later cable with the speed sensor between the upper and lower cables, as opposed to the speed sensor mounted on the gearbox;
The upper cable number is 6113 Y4
The lower cable number is 96 073 325

Has the cable been checked to ensure the correct part is being made up, or have both halves been sent?

I can't see any availability for these cables, so having one made up is the correct solution.

If you ever felt the need to convert to Series 2 instruments, I'm sure someone would have a set.
