Automatic Poke (or how is it called)

Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

Automatic Poke (or how is it called)

Post by Degens » Thu May 13, 2021 8:55 pm

I think some time ago I saw a post of someone who made replacement gear pokes for an automatic. I would love to have one, as the plastic on the top is falling apart into tens of pieces. Several times I have done some archaeological work to reassemble it all together again (yes, nobody could put Humpty Dumpty together again), but after 3 times it seems to become a rather hopeless exercise (and more Humpty Dumpty-like). I therefore hoped that someone either has such a poke floating around (and was willing to sell it to me) or knew who to contact who made such replacements.

It's called a gear-shift handle, for an automatic
and a gear knob for a manual.

Right hand auto levers are very thin on the ground hans to a point that if one turned up there would be a bidding war.. Lhd levers are reversed and opposite although I have considered trying one but the P lock release button would be either operated by your hand plam spread across the lever or by using your small and wedding ring finger to press it in. Which still may be better then a shabby lever..

No reproductions have been made yet as a decent un broken one would be needed to make an inital reproduction copy.

Thanks all for the comments. I don't anymore have my Dutch XM; destroyed in an aquaplanning accident min 2012 with fortunately no bodily injury. I have now 2 right-hand drive XMs, and are there any gear-shift handles for these? I noticed someone on the forum wants to reproduce them, so that is something to look forward to.

Hans there's a company who already make them. But work on an exchange basis so you send yours off and they send a replacement and they are a healthy 25 euro plus ship each..

That is me.

The plan is to make them OEM "look", not a leather cover.
