Undertray

Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

The only problem with the abs sheet is that the gearbox hangs below the subframe so the undertray would have to have a sump on it although i could make a clip on sump from fibreglass that goes under the box with a hole cut in the sheet..................could be really flash and make one out of perspex although it may sag a bit with the heat

Hi Guys.

Just have to say you're certifiable if you want to fit one of these piles of s**t to your XM ! They trap the crap, will see off your Xmember in due course, make oil changes and visual inspection much more difficult and will disguise the presence and source of any engine bay leaks for some time. A clear, visual drip on the floor can be a very useful early warning ! In my experience they don't make the slightest improvement to noise, economy, handling or anything else --- 100% bad !!!

That said -- and if you really are feeling unwell -- as it's not bonfire night yet, I still have one left that I took off the present ride. First come, first served, collect from Birmingham.

Mike.

If you really can't find one buy a sheet of 3mm ABS plastic and make one.
iirc the Xantia 1.9 had a wide slit with a downward wind deflector just in front of the engine, to act as an exhaust for radiator heat.
Frankly, you are doing the vehicle an immense favour by discarding it....

Not as far as I understand. It's there for three reasons: 1. Noise encapsulation. 2. Aerodynamic efficiency. 3. heat dissipation from the engine bay via proper cooling channels.

The only problem is trapping water causing corrosion of the subframe. Fit spacers..no problem.

4. To stop mud and other crud being sprayed all over my nicely painted engine and engine bay!
