Series 2 24v

Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

European spec cars were availble in all sorts of other specs other then Top spec that we had them in...

You could get a S1 V6 car in base spec, with NO radio controls and no sunroof or electric arm rest, manual seats too....

But the UK, had Si or SEi only in V6..

Not sure what the trim level has to do with the engine, but it's the same trim as a VSX.

Anyone notice that it has a series 1 front end?

I do find the different specs in different countries quite interesting. The market research that dictates these decisions must be quite unusual...working out what will sell ect. Well to us I suppose it would be. We Brits seem to like a standard range of models. Base gets nothing, whilst top rangers get everything.

A base spec mk1 with a V6. Weird!

I like these odd specs. Harking back to big engines in normal cars, also adapted for the climate, cloth being cooler than leather in hot climes. Also going further back to the pioneer days of motoring, where leather seats were for the hired driver who had to drive outside - conduit exterieur (hence the need for waterproof seats) and luxurious heavily decorated and patterned cloth material for the person being driven in their enclosed comparment

The UK spec is dictated by the Company car requirements, so we get upgraded spec, whereas most other countries get basic cars which they then add chosen options onto.

Hi Russ,

I keep getting confused about your reference to these V6 being basic spec cars. The ones Matthew posted are Pallas and the one I did was a VSX specification, which only loses out on not having alloy wheels, leather seats and painted exterior trim.

Hi Will,

It was just a reference to the look of them really..and something Robert said i think. Your VSX pic looks just like an SX. that got me thinking...an SX with a V6... A strange combo. From our point of view, if you have a V6, I, anyway, would want a higher spec car to match the engine. but i suppose that is our conditioning in the uk, ect.

It just intrigues me really...the idea of a mk1 XM in I spec, with a V6, even if they never existed.
Anyway i'm just thinking out load!!!
