Thanks David, please let me know what u have and how much do u want for them. I don't mind S1/S2 cone/bumper either -actually would prefer an S2 bumper-.

cheers
George

Hi George,
Sorry to see/learn of your dilemma with the XM , but I'm sure more than one or two of us (Including me) have been in collision with the back of another vehicle thinking it was safe to proceed when suddenly the driver in front had second thoughts to move off/carry on and then stopped !

I would try and keep the car to it's original spec. if possible, but If your going change to the S2 bumper fitment be aware that you also really need the front wheel arch liner's too as these are slightly longer on the leading edge than the S1/1.5 model's also the headlight's are different too for the grill mounting lug on the outer black case assembly which the nose-cone attaches to on the inner mount's which the grill is fastened to !

Read thro' THIS thread which explains it in more detail.

Having assisted with a S1/1.5 to S2, front bumper/nose-cone and grill/headlight conversion the end result was very pleasing, I personally would not do the S1/1.5 grill/nose-cone and the S2 bumper guise but it's your car/choice at the end of the day plus obviously what cost/parts you can source which is convenient/locally to you.

I hope this is of help to you and best of luck with the repairs.

:D

P.S. I don't know if you spotted these S2 bumper's on E-Bay NEW and USED (The last seller should have MOST of the bit's to rebuild the front end albeit in Silver or Blue though) !

This is a regular occurance on the Axminster bypass, there is an almost permanent pile of glass at the side of the road.

So would I for such a generally nice, low mileage S1 TD. In addition keeping it to original spec doesn't so readily disclose the history..

Thanks guys, it's good to know your opinions on the "upgrade" option for this S1.5 XM.
I'm now inclined to keep it standard then, if that's what "the public" wants!

btw
was talking earlier to insurer and what they'll do is reduce my no claims by 2 years, so from 13 to 11. Not too bad, I have to be extra careful from now on I guess.

Hi George

Sorry to hear about your minor shunt.
It may be easier to get whatever is available locally now to get the car back on the road.
Then you can be a bit more selective and take your time over collecting any missing original bits.
Most Insurance companies may collect information on the total number of claim free years.
They use this to determine how good a risk you are.
For claim purposes they generally only allow a maximum of 4 years when deducting NCB after an accident.
The NCB is also usually specific to a single vehicle so if you have more that one car insured then you generate a seperate NCB for each car.
They also count the single accident as reducing the NCB on every car policy in your name or which you are a named driver on.
Hope all gets sorted quickly.

John

Thanks for that info John.
I better give a ring to my insurer to check how exactly they treat these things.
cheers

What happens when you crash one car and your wife crashes the other one - both in the same year :o I am awaiting with interest the arrival of my insurance renewals. :(

Had a look at the photos I made on the spot.

Can now see what broke/punctured my bumper (not well visible)...the 407 has a hard spot very near the bumper skin :(

cheers
