The end of P820 UNM (Turbo 2CT)

Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

Hi Southerneruk, I will see what I can do concerning the sunroof. Concerning the steering wheel, I have not managed to get it off.
The sunroof is easy enough to remove:
Remove front seats to be able to remove the upright plastic B pillar side trims, then front and rear roof trims, pull down headlining, then disconnect and unbolt the sunroof.
Be aware the sunroof is heavy, so either have a helper, or lie on your back and use your legs and feet to hold the unit up while undoing the bolts.

One further recommendation is to keep every nut, bolt and bracket you remove from this car.

Also, there are four drainage tubes connected to the sunroof, that run down the four roof pillars'

Did you say the front end is rusty and may be rotten, if that the case then just remove the spiral cables

Just remembered it's an easy one, the roof aerial at the base between the aerial foot and the metal roof there is a black plastic bit I could do with, but need to be careful on this bit as there is a small roof gripper with a round wedge, this can only be taken out from inside the car

You won't be able to remove the sunroof drain tubes, they are glued in to the A and C pillars with expanding foam.

I have made a good start following your instructions, Dieselman. The chairs are out (both electrical, and also available for anyone) and part of the lining also. Hopefully tomorrow further, and I will keep all nuts and bolts!

I got the display out also, but indeed it is a series 2, and forms one block with the buttons for fog lights etc. I did not want to break it. Happy to send pictures.

The displays unscrew from the rear of the facia, switch, panel.

I thought you were going to upgrade your new Sx to VSX spec using your old seats, etc.

Hi Dieselman,

yes, that was my intention, but it appears the frame and the doors of the cars differ, and also the wiring seems different, precluding just adding things (at least beyond my capabilites). I learn, however, a lot of how an XM is built by this controlled demolition (with some pain to see it getting less and less a presentable car)

The wiring looms are probably different due to one having more wires, but ultimately they both start at the fuse-box and end at the item to be powered.
With a complete car to go at, you can definitely make everything function...just keep moving items over.

I know the feeling of seeing a nice Xm being broken down, but it's the end of the road for the VSX anyway, so use the maximum you can.
